A few years ago, my identity was stolen.
For days on end, I went back and forth between banks, cancelled unwanted credit cards, filed police reports, changed all of my passwords and kept an obsessive tab on my credit check score. It was the most devastating thing to ever happen to me.
I knew the possibilities were likely — 1 in 15 people become victims of identity fraud. But with the odds against me, I still would have never thought that identity theft would happen to me. Since then, I’ve never looked at data security the same ever again.
At Cisco, where I spent the majority of my career, I was given countless blessings — a great career filled with different opportunities, a healthy work-life balance, a husband, two kids and some of my closest and dearest friends. However, while rewarding, my time there became safe and comfortable. I was slowly, but surely — starting to lose my identity again — by suppressing the big part of myself that loves adventure and taking risks.
In well-established companies, roles and responsibilities are well-defined. This leads to fewer opportunities where people can influence strategic decisions or drive change in an organization. Following Michael Jordan’s advice, “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” I decided to take the plunge, get out of my comfort zone and reach for the stars. To take the hard path and deliver innovative, creative and ambitious solutions that solve real customer problems.
This experience led me to Dasera.
In this new age of information, data is the currency that drives us forward and with Dasera, I can help customers reinvent the way they secure and manage their data. Data security may be complex, but it doesn’t have to be rocket science. At Dasera, I’m excited to build a product that not only solves ground-breaking problems, but is also intuitive and easy to use.
Great things in business are never done by one person; they’re done by a team. I am proud to be a part of an amazing team and look forward to safeguarding our customers’ most valuable assets — their data and their people.
See you on the other side!
